Today could make it to the top 10 of days of the year. Two things make it this way – First, it is 7:12 am and the sun is shining, the air is crisp and the view outside my kitchen is glorious. Lots of things in my garden are about to bloom – the peonies, the roses mostly. This is such an encouragement. My window boxes are ready for an update and this will be a good project for next week. Their earliest planting of ranunculus, pansies, mint and and swiss chard are looking a little tired. Well, actually, they are still ok being that it is only 39F this morning – maybe I’ll leave them until right before I go to Cape Cod. We’ll see……
Second, I am off this morning to Washington, DC to pick up my son from college. He has his last exam this morning. I am very happy to go, but first I have to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies to bring along for him. Ryan inspires me to continue to seek out the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. Today I am making the Smitten Kitchen/David Lebovitz version. They are in the oven now. I made them sans nuts, as for some unknown reason, my kids like their chocolate chip cookies without nuts – and I used two bars of Ghiardelli Bittersweet chocolate, cut into small chunks.
Well, you get the picture…….gotta go now…….these look fab, don’t you think? Try them out! What have you got to lose?
