Ok, so, May is usually one of my favorite months of the year – full of promise and heady anticipation, and usually presenting a multitude of lovely, buoyant days. I even wrote a poem about this month for goodness sake! This year though, pretty much gets an “F” in the weather department – so going in search of something positive to say before we transit into June, well, it has to be the garden. While a few of my plants are in need of a little help, by and large, the garden is very happy – reminiscent of my beloved English Garden look…… I have to say, I am enjoying the profusion and vibrancy of the colors immensely. At least that makes me happy!
Herewith, a collection of shots from this morning contrasting the happy vs sad members, and, yes, some promises coming along the way…… I have to confess, I am enjoying the photography element of this vocation more than I expected.

Promising, though:
And, sustaining: (ok, I have no resolve whatsoever!):
Well, I actually decided to forgo my trip to Cape Cod this weekend, partly because of unfinished business here and truthfully, because I could not fathom the idea of sitting up there in the fog for 4 days. So, we will get a lot done here and I will migrate in early June.
Meanwhile, I have two “new” old books to indulge in: Kaffeehaus by Rick Rodgers (Violetta – can I come live with you in Austria?) and Richard Olney’s Provence The Beautiful Cookbook. I am seriously obsessed with the baking of old Europe and have loved collecting information about old coffee house society. Perhaps I am “of” another century? I am also seriously obsessed with Alice Waters and all things Chez Panisse, including the cast of characters who influenced this most mystical place – including Richard Olney. I guess I will spend some of today imagining I am in one or both of those places! Au Revoir for now! I will undoubtedly find some more mischief to get myself into in the kitchen today!
