There is no doubt that it gives me great pleasure to have someone to bake for. (Not to mention then I don’t feel compelled to eat said products!!!!) Since my daughter lives in Baltimore and my husband is trying very hard to stay off baked goods, Ryan tends to be the prime beneficiary these days.
I guess I inherited this baking-giving gene from my Mom. On a day to day basis, my kids and my husband are the three usual beneficiaries of this obsession. So, as is usually the case, in anticipation of Ryan coming home on Friday I went into Chocolate Chip Cookie mode. I currently have three favorite recipes for Chocolate Chip Cookies – the Saveur Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies, shown here, David Levovitz’s shown on the blog on May 11, and Marcy Goldman’s Legendary Chocolate Chip Cookies @ BetterBaking.com. Ryan’s current preference is the one shown above.
This morning I was in scone mode and really wanted to make a Lemon-Lavender Scone with Almonds – having gotten some beautiful lavender at the Farmer’s Market yesterday. I knew Ryan would not eat these so I moved onto the typical Raspberry-based scone. The recipe can be found under my recipe header. These came out quite well. I am going to work on the Lemon-Lavender recipe and add sliced toasted Almonds to the top. Will keep you posted.
Today is a beautiful day in NJ – Yeah! There aren’t too many before we get the ” hazy, hot and humids”. So, I am planning on enjoying to the fullest.
We are heading into the city later to have dinner at Novita. Tuesday I am going on a field trip looking for interesting cooking vessels and then meeting Ryan for dinner at Ciano. I am currently on a Flatiron restaurant expedition. And, going to 3Tarts!
I am enjoying a few little home-grown treats every day! Nothing like picking your own.
Have a lovely day!!!!!!!
