I have never had a new bloom on a lacecap at this time of year!
I was out snapping photos again early this morning. It was great fun to see so many beautiful flowers still emerging in our yard. I know, I am beginning to sound like a broken record. While in the back of my mind I am worrying a little that this all must be tied to global warming, I am not embarrassed to say that I am happy as the dickens to see these shots on September 29th!!!!
These are not giving up yet!!!!!
What do I take from this? Well, mostly that right outside our back door is powerful evidence of the ability to strive on – a pertinent message to all of us (well, me, anyway). (I must be in a particularly corny mood today.) Sometimes this may be along with the elements, sometimes in spite of the elements. I think it is just fascinating that nature is so powerful in such subtle ways. Even though the hours of sunlight are much diminished from the longest days of June, these plants are forging onward and somehow adapting, and thriving in the changing conditions. I hope there is not a cost for this in next year’s showings……. Question is, are these plants adapting, mutating, confused or just going along for the ride??? Just another little anthropological rambling (no comments from the peanut gallery – C&R!)
We are off to the Taste of France Show at Pier 54 in NYC today. And, who knows what other mischief we will get into!!!!!! No doubt, my long-awaited visit to Beurre et Sel!!!!!!!
