Is there a such thing as too much light? For a person like me, I’d have to say no. Or, so I thought ……
I was all excited when I came home yesterday from Washington, DC to see how the roses had exploded in the yard with another day of the early-intense heat. Not to mention the peonies as well. But, it is the roses this year that are really amazing. Yet, I knew as I snapped away that the light was not perfect – in fact it was “too sunny”. There were a lot of shadows and the color saturation I was seeing, or wanted to see, couldn’t be caught in the intense sunlight.
So, yesterday afternoon as the sun descended down over the tree line in the west, I went out again. And, I am much more satisfied with these pictures. These may indeed be the best two days in the yard for the roses this year. So, I am just a little crazy – and having so much fun!
Ok, so it’s not fair to demote the peonies:
but, this year, the roses have me obsessed – and I can’t help but feel that I have to take all these pictures because if it rains, this peak bloom will be over:
cultivar of these climbers – they are now vying for my favorites this year, possibly over Lillian Austin!
just can’t help myself – wondering if I’ll ever see these again?
Should I eat this today?
and, coming along nicely:
Going back outside now – to see what’s changed overnight!
