still want to take pics today – just holding an umbrella and camera at same time
If you are looking to make a small investment today in something well worth it – go on Amazon books and buy Sarah Raven’s “Fresh From the Garden” for the very reasonable price of $16.18. You will not be disappointed – I stake my word on it.
There are very few people with whom I feel truly sympatico in regard to vocation – they relish the ideas of being outside working in the garden, running around with a camera and feeling the excitement of getting a great picture of something and then run inside to bake or cook something with their fresh produce which they have sourced either from their own yard or the local farmer’s market.
I recently bought two books by Sarah Raven – the celebrated lady living in Sussex, UK and whom after becoming a physician decided to migrate to cooking, baking and gardening as the centerpieces of her vocation and professional occupation. I can’t remember how I happened upon her, but I am so glad I did. Because it is pouring rain here this morning and is expected to all day, I have been collecting a bunch of books to go through and daydream with today. These are at the top of the pile: Sarah Raven’s Fresh From the Garden and In Season.
Sarah Raven is one of those women “after my own heart” as my dear Mom used to say. She is way ahead of me in the photographing and writing business – spending her days celebrating the things she loves. And, for sure, I am so glad that she is……..
Here are just a few of the recipes I hit with post-its this morning:
Rhubarb Charlotte, Mini Sweet-scented Geranium Blackberry and Apple pies, Damson Plum Jam, Raspberry Cupcakes with Mascarone Frosting, Scones with Rosemary Cherries, Peaches in Sweet Rose Wine with Lemon Verbena, Basil, Raspberry and Hazelnut Meringues, Raspberry and Valpolicella Sorbet, Cardamom and Poppy Seed Ice Cream, and this sublime Lemon Tart topped with Raspberries – need I go on?

It is so great that I have these sustaining preoccupations to keep me out of trouble on days like today.
and, not to be excluded:
Lemon and Passion Fruit Meringue Pie:
So, have some fun today, in spite of the rain………….
Ok so, staying out of trouble didn’t last very long – just got a request for Desperate Days Pancakes (posted on May 22, 2012) from Ryan – off to the kitchen to happily occupy myself for a little while this morning — will undoubtedly get into more trouble later……..
