Lots of people like to use the initialisms. One of the most famous initialisms is, of course, TGIF – signifying to all abundant enthusiasm for the end of one’s work week. Another, not initalism but celebratory phraseology relating to time or condition, to relish in the fact that Wednesday is present or over, is “hump day” and they’ve gotten through this mid-point measure of the work week. For me, my favorite initialism is TGIS – or, Thank God it’s Sunny…….. you’re not surprised, I know. I’m saying this today.
I love the morning. It is indeed the purest expression of God’s presence for me. He unselfishly presents us with a new day every 24 hours – and with it, the opportunity to express and optimize all the gifts he has given us! This is how I truly feel..
After a day like yesterday, when the rain came down in buckets and I wandered around in a virtual fog all day, I am renewed by the presence of the sun breaking through already (8am) and the fact that a lot of my roses did indeed survive the first tropical storm of the season – on June 7th – Mother Nature’s idea of a little chuckle preceeding the coming summer solstice!
Anyway, I am somewhat optimistic that the sun did break through a bit in the past hour – now its overcast again.
Is there any better obvious example of the phrase, “Survival of the Fittest” than to walk outside and see what happened yesterday in the storm? Obviously, the species are not threatened and I am using this as an illustration, but you can see that some of my plants fared better than others. While most will refresh and regenerate, a lot lost their blooms completely and, well, we shall see!
Here’s a little survey of the damage:
poor peonies (my fault for not staking):
Sturdy first blossoms:
total loss of blooms on this Sunsprite Floribunda rose which was in all it’s glory the day before
and finally, potent words of inspiration from a legend:
