Ok, so George says butterfly “chasers” are old, white-haired, wear funny hats and run around with nets……. Do I care about this image? Um, No! Not, when I can get these:
Ok, so I had a little fun with the iphone camera in the yard yesterday afternoon. In the morning it was the wild raspberries (iphone and 35mm). In the afternoon, butterflies. Early am, after driving Ryan to the train, it was snapping the guernseys (at least I think they are guernsies) and cornfield in Harding. To say I am having fun with my cameras is an understatement.
Last year I discovered just how much the butterflies love pink phlox. I bought a single plant from the garden center and while it sat in it’s pot unattended by me for a few days in the driveway, I casually noticed how the butterflies were immediately drawn to it. I finally planted it and then, for the rest of the bloom enjoyed having these lovely visitors.
From last summer:
Well, I also have a couple of beautiful large masses of white phlox, given to me by Donna Miller a few years ago, which were doing just wonderfully – and, I was anticipating………. and yesterday I realized the tips had all been chewed off by the deer. It never ceases to amaze me that in the night, the deer will come right onto the patio and dine, even though the dog is here. Well, anyway, I have no emerging blooms on the white phlox and so today, I am going off in search of new phlox plants so as to attract my new friends.
Time’s a Wasting – as my dear Mom used to say………
Today, in addition to searching for phlox, I am going to try one of the lemon cakes – just for the fun of it. Tomorrow, I hope it’s off to the Union Square Farmer’s Market to see what’s new.
my new Gien Passiflore plates – a birthday gift from Christin and Ryan, fresh from France; aren’t they fun?
