Agapanthus Bulgaricum – a Phenomenon of yesterday, seen in Basking Ridge and at Jefferson Market Garden in NYC, identified by Mary Anne McCormack – thanks Mar!
P just seems to be the letter of the last couple of days for me. Peonies, Purple and Pink and just in fresh from Florence – PASTRY! This is the trump card for me – I can snap pics of flowers all day long but one great photo of Pastry and from Florence and all else retreats into the background – memories of Florence flooding in…………
– and the other word of the day is Phenomenon…… I’ll keep on with it as long as it lasts……….
Oh gosh, it’s June! Yikes! Slow down calendar – I’m not in any rush to zoom through these days. Why does it seem like the Winter drags on indefinitely and then the “good” months zip by so quickly? Ugh! Can anyone do anything about this phenomenon?
I have a hummingbird who keeps visiting me in our yard! I am so excited! He/she is so noisy – but that’s ok. And seemingly fixated with the windows – as the cardinal has been for a month now! “My” hummingbird is what I would characterize as a Phenom! These amazing creatures flap or, according to some reports, move their wings in a figure 8, over 4,000 times per minute and have a heart rate of over 1,260 beats per minute. This level of energy, which is required to soar around all day, is astounding! I love to watch these marvels of nature.
And so, I guess: “I lead a small life – well, valuable, but small – and sometimes I wonder, do I do it because I like it, or because I haven’t been brave?” Kathleen Kelly in You’ve Got Mail
Yesterday was indeed a glorious day – until we ran into a determined shower while at Union Square. That was a surprise! Anyway, I added a few nice photos to the collection and had lunch at Rosemary’s.
Also invited to the Peony Party:
And, to the Purple Party:
And, the Pink Party:
Thought for the day: make sure to notice all beauty out of doors – every day! And – all of the beauty inside the pastry shops in the great patisseries of the world!
the last word – Pastry – fresh from Florence – from my cousin Carol’s daughter Sara! Makes me want to get on a plane asap!
